Chocolate Chip Slice-and-Bake Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Method:

  1. Cream Butter and Sugar
    In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and creamy.
  2. Add Egg and Vanilla
    Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients
    Add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Fold in Chocolate Chips
    Gently stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  5. Shape and Chill
    Divide the dough in half and shape into two logs. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1–2 hours, or until firm.
  6. Slice and Bake
    Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
    Slice dough into 1/2-inch thick rounds and place on a lined baking tray.
  7. Bake
    Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool
    Allow cookies to cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Tips

  • Chill the dough well to keep cookies from spreading
  • For softer centers, slightly underbake
  • Add chopped nuts for extra texture
  • Dough logs can be frozen for up to 2 months
