Ingredients:
- 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Method:
- Cream Butter and Sugar
In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and creamy. - Add Egg and Vanilla
Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined. - Add Dry Ingredients
Add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms. - Fold in Chocolate Chips
Gently stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed. - Shape and Chill
Divide the dough in half and shape into two logs. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1–2 hours, or until firm. - Slice and Bake
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
Slice dough into 1/2-inch thick rounds and place on a lined baking tray. - Bake
Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. - Cool
Allow cookies to cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Tips
- Chill the dough well to keep cookies from spreading
- For softer centers, slightly underbake
- Add chopped nuts for extra texture
- Dough logs can be frozen for up to 2 months
