Ingredients:
- 2 slices bread (white, sourdough, or whole wheat)
- 2–3 slices cheese (American, cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)
- 1–2 tablespoons butter, softened
Optional Add-Ins
- Sliced tomato or avocado
- Cooked bacon or ham
- Caramelized onions or sautéed mushrooms
- Garlic powder or dried herbs (mixed into the butter)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Bread
Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. For extra flavor, mix a small pinch of garlic powder or dried herbs into the butter. - Assemble the Sandwich
Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, into a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Layer the cheese evenly on top, then add any optional fillings if using. Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up. - Grill
Cook for 2–3 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted. Reduce heat if the bread browns too quickly. - Serve
Remove from the skillet, let rest for 1 minute, slice, and serve warm.
