Ingredients:
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- ½ cup shredded Gruyère cheese
- Fresh thyme (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 20 minutes until soft, golden, and caramelized.
- Roll out the puff pastry and place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle Gruyère cheese over the onions.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, until the pastry is golden and crisp.
- Garnish with fresh thyme and serve warm.
