French Salted Butter Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon flaky sea salt (plus extra for sprinkling)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (3–5 minutes). Mix in vanilla.
  3. Gradually add flour and mix just until combined.
  4. Shape dough into a 2-inch log, wrap, and chill for at least 1 hour.
  5. Slice into 1/4-inch rounds and place on the baking sheet. Sprinkle lightly with flaky sea salt.
  6. Bake 12–15 minutes until edges are lightly golden and centers remain pale.
  7. Cool 5 minutes on the sheet, then transfer to a wire rack.
