Ingredients:
- 1 large loaf Italian bread
- 1 lb (450 g) thinly sliced beef
- 1 cup sliced bell peppers (mixed colors)
- 1 cup sliced onions
- 2 cups shredded provolone cheese
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the sliced beef in a large pan over medium-high heat until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, sauté the bell peppers and onions until soft and lightly caramelized.
- Add the cooked beef back to the pan and stir to combine. Remove from heat.
- Slice the Italian bread lengthwise, making sure not to cut all the way through.
- Hollow out some of the inside of the loaf to make space for the filling.
- Fill the bread with the beef, pepper, and onion mixture.
- Add the shredded provolone cheese, pressing it into the filling.
- Wrap the entire loaf in foil and place it on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted.
- Unwrap the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes to crisp the top of the bread.
- Allow it to cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
