Grandma’s Apple Crumb Bars

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 4 cups sliced apples (peeled if desired)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup oats
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions :

1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

2. Make the Crust and Crumb Mixture
In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, and salt.
Cut in the butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture becomes crumbly.

3. Form the Base
Set aside about 1 cup of the crumb mixture for the topping.
Press the remaining mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to form the crust.

4. Prepare the Apple Layer
In another bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon and nutmeg until well coated.
Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust.

5. Add the Topping
Mix the oats into the reserved crumb mixture and sprinkle evenly over the apples.

6. Bake
Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender.

7. Cool and Serve
Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares or bars.

Perfect for fall gatherings or cozy afternoons—these crumbly, buttery bars taste just like Grandma’s kitchen.
