Ingredients
- 4.5 lbs country-style pork ribs
- 2 cans (12 oz each) Dr Pepper soda, divided
- 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand)
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the ribs: Season the ribs generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
- Slow cook with Dr Pepper: Place the ribs in a large roasting pan or Dutch oven. Pour 1 can of Dr Pepper over the ribs. Cover tightly with foil or a lid. Bake for 2 to 2½ hours, or until the ribs are tender.
- Make the glaze: In a small saucepan, combine the second can of Dr Pepper, barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
- Glaze and finish: Remove the ribs from the oven and discard the cooking liquid. Brush the ribs generously with the Dr Pepper glaze.
- Caramelize the ribs: Return the ribs to the oven, uncovered, for 20–25 minutes, basting once more halfway through, until the glaze becomes sticky and slightly caramelized.
- Serve: Let the ribs rest for a few minutes before serving.
