Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch

- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, beat the cold butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until just combined and crumbly.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until incorporated.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts, if using.
- Scoop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing cookies about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 7 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers look slightly underbaked.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
