7-Minute Chocolate Chip Cookies

 

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, beat the cold butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until just combined and crumbly.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts, if using.
  7. Scoop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing cookies about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 7 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers look slightly underbaked.
  9. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Tips & Variations

  • Do not overbake—cookies continue to set as they cool.
  • Chill the dough for 10 minutes if your kitchen is warm.
  • Swap walnuts for pecans or omit nuts entirely.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top before baking for extra flavor.
